The curriculum of my degree program required as much real world work and experience as possible, so during the fourth semester of my studies, students were asked to create virtual startup companies and work both sides of the trade: business & administration and design & marketing.
Our company was called “Freeze” and it was a virtual movie & animation studio.

The goal was to produce an animation series pilot and pitch it to TV stations.
We managed to cover all bases, from brainstorming, storytelling, sketching, storyboarding, animating, modelling, rendering, compositing and shading, to sound design and DVD production.

The cartoon was named “Goeff & Phlip”, after a lazy boy and his perverted penguin brother, that got kicked out of their parent’s house and now have to work for a living. They move in with some shady guy to cut the expenses, while checking out the classifieds. They manage to find a job, but the plot somehow always takes a turn for the worse, because they end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The story got picked up by a marketing magazine and we got a feature. Yay! 🙂
